Workshop: Construir e Instalar um Cortiço Horizontal numa Árvore
Venha participar num dia prático dedicado a aprender sobre abelhas melíferas e como proporcionar-lhes bons locais de nidificação na natureza.

Este workshop prático foca-se na construção de uma colmeia horizontal de cortiça e na sua instalação num sobreiro. Iremos comparar vários exemplos de ninhos mais naturais e discutir as principais diferenças entre colmeias quadradas convencionais e colmeias em árvores, revelando factores importantes para apoiar a saúde das abelhas. Ao longo do dia, iremos observar uma colónia de abelhas a viver numa árvore, e serão partilhadas orientações sobre como escolher um bom local para a nova colmeia.
No final do workshop, saberás como tornar a colmeia atrativa para um enxame de abelhas à procura de um novo lar. Este dia introdutório oferece os conhecimentos básicos para apoiar abelhas melíferas com espaços de nidificação apropriados na natureza.

Workshop: Creating and Installing a Horizontal Cork Beehive in a Tree
Join us for a practical day dedicated to learning about free-living honey bees and how to provide them with good nesting places in nature.
Facilitators: Jack Golds, Annelieke van der Sluijs, and Andreas Endries. In Portuguese, with English translation.
This hands-on workshop focuses on building a horizontal cork beehive and installing it in a cork oak. We will compare various examples of more natural styles of nests and will discuss the main differences between standard square hives and tree hives, revealing important factors that support bee health. Throughout the day, we will have the opportunity to observe a bee colony living in a tree and gain insights on selecting a good location for a new hive.
By the end of the workshop, you will know how to make the hive attractive for swarming bees in search of a new home. This introductory day equips you with the basic knowledge to support honey bees through creating suitable nesting spaces in nature.
Offering nest opportunities for honey bees is part of our rewilding initiative.
