Walking the Swarm
One of our dear hives has given birth to a large swarm. The cluster is hanging on a branch nearby.
Her new home is a Top Bar hive, located just a kilometre away. We collect a large part of the cluster in a basket, but a smaller cluster remains on the branch, and we feel that it contains the queen.
As the tree would also benefit from being gently pruned, we decide to remove the branch and walk the smaller cluster to rejoin the rest of the colony.
